I’ve Got *Insert Skin Type Here* Skin, Can I use It?
If you suffer with spots, this treatment is suitable for you! It’s very gentle despite containing both salicylic and azelaic acid (both of which you can find out more about HERE).
Of course, as you should do with everything, if you have sensitive skin conduct a patch test 24 hours prior to use.
My Experience With Blemish SOS Rapid Action Target Gel
This spot cream is really great at calming and soothing the inflammation in all types of spots, whether they be whiteheads, blackheads or those horrible, swollen red lumps!
Of course, like I say to anybody about spot treatments, they’re not miracle workers and cannot completely eradicate spots with one use but it certainly can take the swelling and redness down… and fast! In some cases, with those small little swollen dots you get, this spot treatment can make them disappear overnight but for the majority of your spots, it’s not going to do this.
However, with a couple of days use, I do really notice the spot/s clearing up quicker than if I left them alone (trust me, I’ve tested it!!). I have also seen that I don’t get any dryness with this spot treatment which lends itself to then being able to cover your spots up easier if you do wear makeup. You don’t get that awful flakiness that comes with some spot products – even when I use it alongside my Medik8 blemish control pads.
I think this product is up there with some of the best spot treatments I’ve tried. Plus, I really like the inclusion of niacinamide which is one of my favourite ingredients! It has many benefits but in this spot cream it’s primary job is to reduce redness and inflammation!
This spot treatment does contain denatured alcohol, rosemary leaf oil, limonene and linalool, which for some people is an issue. These types of ingredients can cause dryness (alcohol denat.) and irritation/sensitivity (rosemary leaf oil, limonene, linalool). However, I personally have never experienced either with this product but it’s something to be aware of. Especially if you are someone who knows they have a sensitivity to these ingredients!
What Does It Look Like/Feel Like/Smell Like?
It’s a clear, thin gel that smells slightly herbal – probably because of the rosemary leaf oil!
How Do I Use The Blemish SOS Rapid Action Target Gel?
I tend to use this blemish treatment in the mornings only since I use my beloved Kate Somerville Eradikate treatment at night (reviewed HERE).
I will apply it after I have cleansed and toned my face, directly onto the spots and allow it to dry before continuing on with the rest of my routine.
If it’s an acid day, I will cleanse, use my acid product (which is still the Medik8 blemish control pads, reviewed HERE), apply the spot cream and allow it to dry. The blemish control pads and the blemish SOS spot treatment are such a beautiful pairing! On the days that I use them together, brewing blemishes are quite literally stopped in their tracks and existing ones are soothed!

Stick Or Spin Again?
I’ve bought this spot treatment twice now and twice for my mum who is also obsessed with it. I think my husband is also stealing it on the sly so I’ll be getting him one too! Needless to say, I love it and it’s a stick for me!
I think this is a great, effective spot treatment to wear under makeup in the daytime! Of course, you could use this at night too but I just choose to use a different one. I certainly think this is gentle enough to use both morning and night on spots if you only wanted to have one treatment in your routine!
