Back in August, I saw lots of people on my Instagram posting about the new Bondi Sands SPF 50+ Fragrance-Free Face Lotion. Of course, I had to try it out myself so, off to Boots I popped! For £6.99 it was an absolute steal and I managed to get the last one on the shelf! I went home and put it straight on and, because I’m a good girl and wear my SPF every day, I then continued to apply it throughout that week.
During this week, I was also testing out a new cleansing oil. Now, I normally only start using one new product at a time because if I have any reaction or breakouts, I will then know what caused it. I’m sure you can see where I’m going with this… I began using the 2 new products at the same time and of course, had the mother of all breakouts within a week and so promptly stopped both. I had absolutely no idea which product caused this horrendous breakout but I promptly moved both to the back of the cupboard and dug out the super strength salicylic acid!
Then as time went on, I did a bit of research on the cleansing oil and realised it was most likely that which broke me out. Around the same time, I was lucky enough to be selected to receive an Influenster Voxy Box and what did it contain?! Both the Bondi Sands Face Sunscreen and the Body Sunscreen! What are the chances!
Anyway, so I got over my fear of breaking out again and gave the face sunscreen another go and this time, it was a success!
The lessons learnt? That that cleansing oil was not for me and never try more than one product at the same time!!!
What Does It Claim To Do?
According to the Bondi Sands website:
“Enjoy a sun-soaked day the Bondi Sands way with our SPF 50+ Sunscreen Lotion. Providing UVA and UVB protection, our water resistant formula is gentle, fast absorbing and dries to an invisible finish.
Formulated to deliver up to 72 hours of hydration, with added aloe vera and vitamin E to leave your skin feeling deeply moisturised. Can be worn alone or under makeup. Paraben free. Sulphate free.”
Both sunscreens come in handy flip top tubes. Neither have leaked on travelling and they are easy to open and squeeze product out even when you’re mid-applying.
The packaging is also clean and bright looking!
The ingredients for both the face sunscreen and the body are the SAME:
AQUA (WATER), HOMOSALATE*, CERA ALBA (BEESWAX), ALOE BARBADENSIS LEAF JUICE, OCTOCRYLENE*, ETHYLHEXYL SALICYLATE*, ISOPROPYL PALMITATE, CETEARYL ALCOHOL, CYCLOPENTASILOXANE, CYCLOHEXASILOXANE, CETEARETH-20, BUTYL METHOXYDIBENZOYLMETHANE*, HYDROXYACETOPHENONE, CARBOMER, BENZYL ALCOHOL, SACCHARIDE ISOMERATE, PHENOXYETHANOL, SODIUM STEAROYL GLUTAMATE, TRIETHANOLAMINE, TOCOPHERYL ACETATE, CITRIC ACID, SODIUM CHLORIDE, BENZYL ALCOHOL.

FYI, this sunscreen is a CHEMICAL sunscreen, for more info on this click here.
Every morning, after doing my skincare routine and finishing off with a moisturiser, I would use the ‘2 finger method‘ to apply enough of the SPF to my face, ears and neck. Because I have normal-to-dry skin, I couldn’t get away without using a moisturiser before this. If you have oily skin, you may be able to, however.
- It’s a light, non-sticky formula that sank into my skin beautifully and quickly.
- It left no residue, greasiness or excess shine behind.
- There is zero white-cast left behind as it’s a chemical sunscreen (want to understand this more, check out this blog post).
- Didn’t cause any pilling, which is a bonus!!
- Reapplication throughout the day wasn’t an issue (I was testing it whilst WFH so wasn’t wearing any makeup!).
I didn’t experience any negatives myself. The only thing I would say is that if you have sensitive skin, chemical sunscreens can sometimes cause you irritation. So, something to be aware of with all chemical sunscreens really!
Now, I’ll admit, living in the UK, I don’t normally wear SPF on my body because there’s not much call for it and most of my skin is under clothes! However, for the purpose of testing, I made the effort to apply this every day on my arms, chest and back of my neck!
I was actually really surprised how much I enjoyed using this! I quickly got into the habit of applying it every morning and like the face sunscreen, it rubs in quickly, is light, non-sticky and leaves no white cast. Putting clothes on after applying it was fine, it felt the same as applying clothes after moisturiser!
Overall, both were a pleasure to use! I can’t really say how well they would protect me from the sun or be water-resistant as I’m in the UK and sadly, not in a warm country with a glorious pool in my garden! Nevertheless, they are made by an Australian company so let’s be honest, if they work there, they’ll work everywhere else in the world!!
I don’t know about you but I think these are extremely good value compared to the large majority of sunscreens out there!! I would be more than happy to buy 2 or 3 of each to take on holiday with me.
Where can you find them?
Online on the Bondi Sands website or at Feel Unique, Beauty Bay, Look Fantastic or in-store at Boots and Superdrug.
Would I Purchase It Again?
Absolutely! These sunscreens are high protection (SPF 50), protect you from both UVA and UVB rays (you always want to be protected from both) and they are fragrance-free (great for sensitive skin). They are also both suitable for all skin types and so great for use by the whole family.
Honestly, get these sunscreens you really won’t be disappointed. I will 100% be buying these for when (if ever), I go on holiday again!
