AMANDA HARRINGTON ILLUMINATING BRONZING MOUSSE REVIEW

This week I’m reviewing the very luxe Amanda Harrington Illuminating Bronzing Mousse in colour ‘Natural Honey‘!

You all know by now that I’m a dedicated weekly tanner! I don’t feel like me without a bronzey glow to my skin so this does mean that I try a lot of different tanning brands out. So when one of my favourite influencers shared a discount code for a tanning brand that I’d not yet tried, my little ears pricked up. Next thing I know I’ve added the tan to my cart and put in my card details!

When the tan arrived, it was in the most gorgeous packaging, it felt so luxurious! I hastily grabbed my tanning mitt, applied a layer (which was super easy to do) and went to bed. I noticed straight away how quickly the tan dried after application so minimal waiting around naked on your phone time… come on we all do it!

The Result?

Come morning time I was a gorgeous colour, like I’d popped away for a quick week in the sun (I wish!!). My skin was soft, hydrated and streak free. Then over the course of 6 days it stayed pretty much at the same depth of colour with just a bit of fading. The fading was even and not patchy, no tiger loaf skin in this house!

The Removal?

On day 6 when I had my usual bath to scrub off my tan, it came off like a dream. Easier than any other tan I’ve tried to date. To the point where I barely needed to scrub my chest and arms, only my legs needed a bit of… well leg work!!

The removal process was so easy that I was able to pop a fresh layer of tan on straight after my bath. Usually I have to wait until the next day to reapply as my skin is aggravated from scrubbing but that’s not been the case with this tan!!

Overall…

I’ve used this tan nearly 3/4 times now and I can say with 100% certainty that this has become my go-to. It’s easy but most importantly it looks good and that’s what I look for in a tan! I do want to try the next colour up, natural olive, next time to see how they compare. So I’ll let you all know how that is and I’ll snap the colour difference for a comparison!

This tan is the most expensive one I have in collection at £36 but because of the fantastic results, it’s worth it in my eyes. You do pay for what you get with fake tan I think!

Any Smell?

This is the first tan I’ve tried that, to me, has zero smell! No popcorn/biscuity smell as it develops and no lingering smell after you shower it off – result!!! Even my husband has commented how he can’t smell anything when I have it on… and he’s always the first one to say if there’s a smell!!

How Do I Apply The Fake Tan?

*Amanda Harrington recommends using the black gloves that come with the tan but to be honest I prefer a mitt! You can buy a body brush (found HERE) which I do want to try out one day!

So on a Sunday, I shave and exfoliate in the bath to remove all old tan and dead skin. After my bath I then moisturise my knees, feet, hands and elbows with some moisturiser.

Using a tanning mitt, I apply the foam on my legs first, then on my body and arms. To do my feet and hands I just use the excess leftover on the glove.

After doing all of this, I then use a fluffy sock to buff over my knees, elbows, hands and feet. Doing this helps to blend the tan in those areas and not leave any streaky lines behind. I also dampen a cotton pad and wipe over my nails to stop them staining.

Then I just get dressed in loose pyjamas and head to bed! I usually leave the tan on for around 6-7 hours and then shower and moisturise in the morning.

I don’t tend to top my tan up through the week. However, when I used to go out on the weekends (oh how I miss doing that!!), I would top up on Thursday night with either Tan Luxe tanning drops or their gradual tan!

Stick Or Spin?!

Stick but I want to try the next colour up to compare!

One thing to mention as well is that I say this tan is easy to apply but that’s because I’ve been tanning for literally years. I’ve got my hands/feet/knees/elbows down to a T so they are never dark or streaky but it does take practice, lots of it! So if you’re expecting to buy this tan and have it be completely streak free/not have orange hands and feet, that bit comes down to your technique, not the tan! I’ve seen lots of people complaining in the reviews about this but it makes zero sense to me because if your tan is streaky, that’s an application issue, it’s on you!!

That’s all from me for today! Have any of you tried any Amanda Harrington products? I have my eye on the face mist to try next!
