Fearfully healing 🤍 What does that mean? Well Fearfully healing 🤍

What does that mean? Well I’ve had acne before, took roaccutane for 10 months in 2018/2019, had 1.5 years acne free and then it came back with a vengeance in October 2020. Then I found @skinandmehq personalised prescriptions in December 2020 which has been helping my skin immensely (as you’ve probably seen from the progress photos I’ve been sharing) and I’ve been on a high for the last 4 weeks basking in my clear skin 👼🏻

BUT alongside this high I’ve been feeling fearful ⚡️. Fearful that my acne will come back again, fearful that it will come back worse than before, fearful that if it does come back, no treatments will work on it 🚫. I worry that one day when I’m ready to have children and I won’t be able to use salicylic acid and retinoids, my acne will come back and I’ll have to suffer for all that time when it’s meant to be about the bubs and not me 🤷🏼‍♀️. It’s the shadow following me quietly throughout my days 👥. Can anyone relate?

Acne can steal so much from you and rob you of your confidence and self-esteem. Then when and if your acne does clear up, you’re left feeling fearful and scared of it returning even though you’re expected to feel happy and free. It’s a tiring endless circle ⭕️ but this year I’m going to try and break the cycle 🙅🏼‍♀️. It’s going to take more than just writing my feelings in an Instagram post but I suppose it’s a start and it’s a move towards growth and change for the good! ✨💛

*shouldn’t have to say it but no edits, no filters, just my skin in direct sunlight

◾️ review coming

💖 @skinandmehq month 3 personalised prescription. Obsessed, best thing I’ve ever done, you all know that by now 🤣
💖 @esteelauderuk Advanced Night Repair Serum. WHY DID I NOT TRY YOU SOONER & WHY DID I EVER GIVE IN AND TRY YOU?! She’s so SssSpppenNyYyyyyyy but I’m hooked now 🙃🤣. ◼️
💖 @nyk1secrets Lash Force serum*. Incredible, love it, I will still be putting this on my lashes when I’m 85 👵🏼 you can try it yourself if you want to & get 10% off using ‘SKINACIDTRIP10’, follow the link in my bio 🥰
💖 @28dayskin Skin Repair Serum*. Dare I say it, my fave Niacinamide serum to date?! ◼️
💖 @cliniqueuk Moisture Surge Mist. Love it, always have a back up, can never mist enough in my opinion ✌🏻
💖 @soapandglory The Righteous Butter. Makes me smell like a SNACK 🍪

🍉 @algenist Genius Collagen Calming Relief. Only a sample so hard to tell but it intrigued me enough to want to try a full size at some point!
🍉 @larocheposayuki Cicaplast Baume B5. I love this barrier repairing moisturiser, it really is a lifesaver! I’m currently trying out different barrier strengthening moisturisers but I will definitely repurchase this one in the future as I can just rely on it to do the job that’s it’s designed to do! 👏🏼
🍉 @deciem NIOD SDSM2 mist. Loved this so much but I have a stockpile of other mists to try before I cycle back round to this one! It will probably be out of stock by the time I want to try it again 🤣

🌿 Typology Paris HA & B5 serum. I bloody LOVED the texture of this serum & it really worked to hydrate my skin BUT it pilled like hell! The worst I’ve ever experienced with a product & regardless of whether I used it on damp skin or dry skin, used 1 drop or 2 drops, it just kept pilling when I applied moisturiser & spf over the top. I tried it with different combinations of serum/moisturiser/spf & it still did it every time! Drove me nuts 🙃

@esteelauderuk vs @cliniqueuk 🥊 🔔 The clea @esteelauderuk vs @cliniqueuk 🥊 🔔

The cleansing balm show down! 2 different brands & 2 different cleansing balms... but are they actually that different?! Let’s get into it 👇🏼

* It’s worth noting before getting into this that Clinique is owned by Estée Lauder.

Well, both cleansers look the same & feel the same but the difference comes in the smell. The Clinique balm is virtually scent-free whereas the Estée Lauder balm smells beautifully of lavender.

In regards to the ingredients list, they have all the same ingredients except the Estée Lauder has the following ADDITIONAL antioxidant & fragrance ingredients:

- Silybum Marianum (Lady’S Thistle) Extract
- Polygonum Cuspidatum Root Extract
- Algae Extract
- Anthemis Nobilis (Chamomile)
- Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender)
- Methyl Dihydrojasmonate
- BHT
- Linalool

It is these ingredients that contribute to the aroma that the Estée Lauder cleansing balm has.

Ok but how well do they both work?
Both cut through grime, spf & makeup fabulously but both require a bit of extra work to remove my mascara. However once warm water is added into the mix all my mascara does eventually come off & if it doesn’t my 2nd cleanse finishes the job!

Price difference:
Estée Lauder = £38 for 70ml
Clinique = £25 for 125ml
So the Clinique one is quite clearly better value for money.

So which one should you go for?
The one for...
- when you’re on a budget: Clinique – it’s better value for money! 💰
- those sensitive to fragrance: Clinique as it’s fragrance free 🚫
- those looking for an ‘experience’ when cleansing: Estee Lauder – using this cleanser before bed is so addictive! The lavender smell relaxes me so much 😌
- the perfect ‘shelfie’: Estee Lauder – the frosted jar & gold lid combo is SO gorgeous & makes for a ‘gram worthy picture! 📸

My personal favourite?
I find myself reaching for the Estée Lauder balm the most as it provides me with a relaxing ‘experience’ when I use it & that’s important to me!

To read more detail about both balms, head to my blog skinacidtrip.com 💖

Both cleansers can also be found on @lookfantastic & if you use code ‘LFTFSKINACIDTRIP’ you will save yourself 20% off the total price! 🤑

|AD|PR| I’ve got to say, I’ve never been a mas |AD|PR| I’ve got to say, I’ve never been a mask type gal. I just didn’t really get them but then this beauty entered my life @sjoskin (thaaaaank you Jenny!). It really is a stunning mask that smells of honey & oats! 🍯 It leaves my skin looking soothed & calm & feeling so unbelievably soft after use. Plus it doesn’t dry out my skin (despite containing kaolin clay!), upset my skin in any way or cause any breakouts - result 🥳🥳 After the very 1st use I was like ‘yes! I get the hype!’

I’ve now used this mask probably 4 or 5 times (I use it once a week for 30 mins but you can use 3-5x a week) & I’m still just as in love! Not only do I actually see a change in my skin after use (rare from my small experience of masking!) but it also helps to create the most dreamy selfcare moment for me. I feel truly refreshed & relaxed after using it ✨

The mask is thick & sticky, doesn’t dry on the skin & can be used as a physical exfoliant as you wash it off thanks to the coix powder. As I’m currently using tretinoin I avoid doing this as to not upset my skin barrier.

This gorgeous Happy Honey Mask has become & will remain a firm staple on my skincare shelf! Thank you @sjoskin for bringing this cracker into my life! ❤️

Each pot is blended in small batches in Sweden & it retails for £44. You can find it at sjoskin.com 🍯🐝
